OK, I have some of the posts back but lost the photos. During the build, we decided to switch to Castle ESCs. I know they were expensive, but they have a nifty warranty, so it was tough to turn that down. Plus, the ability to change the rotation via software was a no-brainer. Power… Read More »
…but I have the old posts in the DB so I should be able to restore them. Before I do, however, some caveats. I started this blog to document the build process of the hexacopter I was putting together starting around August of last year. Things were progressing pretty normally. Until the middle of January.… Read More »
Purchased the Sunnysky V3508-20 580kv motors (bought 7 in case one was bad). Bought RCTimer 30A ESCs already preloaded with SimonK and then bought a Turnigy Zippy 4S 8000mah 30 battery. Now just need a decent charger. That will likely be the Tenergy TB6AC4 Since this is a cooperative build with my brother, we are using… Read More »
I have the flight controller in my possession now; after several weeks of hemming and hawing, I’ve decided to go with 580KV motors, a 4S power plant running 6000mah (and later maybe 2 batteries in parallel). I will also be going with 30A ESCs. I know I want a GoPro 3+ Hero and gimbal combo… Read More »
Been some time since I posted an update; not much to update here. Purchased the flight controller yesterday and should have it on Tuesday next. Wednesday, the frame arrived from UPS. It was late in the day, and I was preparing for a business trip to Oklahoma City that evening. Thursday I returned and cracked open the package. Some assembly will likely take place this weekend when I move most of the build components from my home to my brother’s… Read More »
Placed the order from GetFPV for this frame, so it would appear I am now ‘all in’. I expect the frame to be here Tuesday and will update the blog sometime after that.
The receiver and transmitter arrived today. Taranis X9D with the X8R receiver. Guess I have some stuff to look over.
It’s possible I might be a bit premature since I really haven’t fully specced out the parts for the Tarot FY680 Pro build I am preparing, but I at least got the ball rolling initially with the purchase of a good soldering station (Hakko FX888D). Since this will be a build with my brother, he will… Read More »
For those who know me, it’s really no secret that my father and I did not see eye to eye on much of anything, especially as I got into my later teens and adulthood. Some of that smoothed out as we both got older. However, there are still some hard feelings over things done in… Read More »
